Thread & Favour produce beautifully crafted interior accessories from rare and exclusive fabrics that have been carefully sourced from around the world, are limited edition, and British-made.
CW love this new website and have been seduced by their cushions and throws not only because they are 100% made in Britain from British fabrics - Harris Tweed and Suffolk silk – but also because the philosophy behind the company is to re-invest in our manufacturing industry. To this end Thread & Favour champions craftsmanship and gives back to the communities where the fabric is from. A purchase from Thread & Favour makes a positive contribution to sustaining the craftspeople, traditions and community of the fabric’s place of origin. A guaranteed £10 of the sale price of every item sold is donated to projects that train the next generation of weavers.
Before I wax lyrically about the cushions I have to admit that they are a tad expensive but I think you will agree that they are so beautifully made of such high quality fabrics in totally delicious colour combinations that with the exclusive 20% discount, which has generously been offered by Thread and Favour to all CW readers, I think their site is worth a browse. The cushions would make an excellent wedding gift and any new home could find a corner for one or two of these cushions!
As everyone of my friends know I am a bit of a purple fiend therefore the Hampstead cushion in Purple and Muscat Green has definitely got my name on it!
Each cushion and throw has embroidered into the lining fabric the name of the person who designed the item through the weavers who produced the cloth, to the seamstresses that sew them. Not only do all CW readers get the opportunity to use the 20% discount by quoting the promo code CW20 until 20 June, there will also be a competition running on our Twitter site (@Countrywives) on Friday 17th May which will allow the winner to choose one cushion from the Thread and Favour site…. so follow us on Friday to find out the details!

VOTED BBC GARDENERS WORLD MAGAZINE BEST BUY
I know that we have had our moans about re-cycling on this website but it is only because we are of an age when we don’t like change however I have to say that I have now embraced it and would even go so far as to say that I quite enjoy it. I get a strange satisfaction and warm glow when I put my rubbish out on a Sunday evening with everything in its right box or bag!
However we can always do more and this system from GREAT GREEN SYSTEMS takes us to the next level because we will be doing the re-cycling ourselves!
Firstly the Green Cone, a food waste digester, is designed for a sunny position in a well drained part of your garden and is suitable for an average family of four. It accepts all cooked and uncooked food including vegetable scraps, meat, fish, bones, dairy products and other surplus kitchen organic material (it comes with a kitchen caddy to collect your food waste in). The Green Cone and Nature then do the rest and reduces the Cone’s contents to its natural components of water and carbon dioxide. I won’t explain how this happens as you can read all about the detail on their well laid out website however I will say that it means that all you will have left in your kitchen bin will be so minimal and with no smell!
The Green Johanna is a much larger version and produces compost for use in the garden from all the kitchen waste (as above) together with organic garden waste e.g. plants, leaves and grass cuttings. This composter is designed to sit in a sunny position in the garden and because of its unique ventilation system it breaks down waste faster than traditional garden composters. It can be used all year round and there is an optional winter jacket for use when the temperature drops below 5 degs C for any long periods (think we might be needing that!).
Not only are you saving up to 25% of your household waste being collected but it reduces the need for landfill and with this comes reduced greenhouse gases!
I think we all want to protect our environment by reducing our carbon footprint but this system genuinely is simple enough for me to install and use and I can highly recommend it.
Great Green Systems have generously given all our readers a discount of £10 on the Green Cone and a massive £25 on the Green Johanna if you call 0800 731 2572 and quote the name Countrywives during the month of May 2013.
Please check out their website by clicking on one of the highlighted links above to find out more about this cleverly designed and well-thought out system which we at Countrywives think is perfect for our readers to becoming even more environmentally friendly.

One of us, that’s me folks, has invested in yet another Wellworking product, the Aeron Chair. Last year I went on and on about the incredible ERGO Q laptop Stand which Wellworking had recommended for my neck pain. As you may remember I had long suspected that the aches and pains I was experiencing might be a result of looking down at my laptop all day long and I had started to try and find a solution. I was right about the laptop and just like magic Wellworking recommended the ERGO Q laptop stand to help me; with no word of a lie the new laptop set up has completely eradicated my neck ache and is certainly one of my best buys of 2012.
This year I’m moving on and the next stage had to be a comfortable chair, one that I could sit in for hours on end doing what I do…………blogging (and calling my friends)! Once again I called in the advice of Wellworking and without hesitation they recommended the Herman Miller Aeron Chair, originally designed of course by Herman Miller!
The Aeron happens to be Wellworking’s most popular seller thanks to its extraordinary ergonomic properties, iconic looks and unrivalled build quality. The chair, which was initially popular in the 90’s with large corporates, is now a staple of modern interior design for both home and office and is featured in both film and TV; it is undoubtedly the iconic chair of the 90′s and even today remains the most popular chair in Herman Miller’s formidable collection of chair designs and maintains record-breaking sales all over the world.
When a product has an impact on it’s time in the way that the Aeron Chair did it is impossible for the arbiters of pop culture to resist using it themselves, even The Simpsons featured an Aeron in the episode “Thank God, It’s Doomsday.” In this episode Homer is transported to Heaven where he meets God, who just happens to be sitting in an Aeron Chair, which of course makes perfect sense as the man who has the entire world on his shoulders should of course be sitting very comfortably indeed in order to cope with our sins, particularly mine!!
All I have is praise for this incredible chair, it is the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in and would you believe that it actually even beats the sofa, the investment is well worth it, we all know how important our health and wellbeing is!
Thanks to Wellworking for their kind advice and for offering CW readers a fabulous 10% discount on all online products.
