Jubilee fever is reaching an all time high as houses across the country are being be-decked in bunting. I wonder if the Queen is looking forward to it or like me would she prefer to be at home, feet up, cup of tea and watching in on the telly?!! A neighbour of mine, very posh, has been invited to take part in the Jubilee River Pageant but apparently her boat has no ‘facilities’ and she will be on it for 9 hours and probably having the odd drink or two. I hope the Gloriana is better equipped however even if it is I find that being a woman aboard a boat, it can all be quite a tricky business. Another neighbour suggested a ‘She-Wee’ for our neighbour, but on further investigation this item should, in my opinion, only be used on terra firma. All in all I feel that the whole river trip could be fraught with disaster and it would make me very stressed to get on a boat without a functioning Loo! I do admire the Queen for her fortitude and the grace she displays when performing all these duties. I just hope that someone asked her what she would like to do to celebrate 60 years of working b****y hard.
I have just had my 86 year old mother staying and she makes the Queen look like an Olympic athlete as life with my mother, in this heat, has to happen at a very slow pace! It was her birthday at the weekend and she said she would not want to celebrate it on a boat, she was much happier having a lovely lunch in my riverside garden surrounded by family and watching the boats go by. Maybe the Queen would be happier doing the same!

We’ve got a little boat ‘without facilities’ and it can be rather worrying at times…mind you, we do have a plastic bucket on board. But doubt that would go down well with the other 999 rivercraft! Sonia T, Dorset x
