LOL Annabel, love your garden wader watering idea. No-one will be able to shop you to the water police (which is what happened to us in 2010 when my neighbour spotted us using a hose – even though it was the day before the hosepipe ban actually began). Mind you, with all this rain we’re enduring, who needs a hosepipe. Anyhow, this seemingly non-stop precipitation was pouring down the yoga studio windows when I went to a class there yesterday. We’ve been away in Turkey and so I was looking forward to giving my old body a bit of a work out. Unfortunately, my aching back made me groan out loud, my knees were clicking and cracking, and my tummy rumbling. I probably put everyone else off their tree balances with all the noise I was making. What’s more, I couldn’t concentrate because my mind kept drifting off… one minute it was the memory of the glorious Istanbul sunshine warming my back, the next a delicious thought of a traditional salty cheese pancake (probably what got my tummy gurgling), Then, as I folded forward to touch the old tootsies, I thought I felt the refreshing breeze of the wide blue Bosphorous in my hair. In fact I was so carried away with holiday flashbacks that I found myself stretching into a backward bend when everyone else in the class was doing a downward dog. Well, they say travel broadens the mind and so I’ve come back and decided to make a few changes to my usual routine…for starters, I have resigned from two committees I’ve been on for too long. Not sure exactly what new things I’m going to do instead (perhaps something really wild, like going to Waitrose instead of Tesco), but there is definitely a certain satisfaction about ringing the changes. Hi Grace – do you have any recommendattions for hotels in Istanbul? Sarah B.
We are thinking of going to Istanbul Grace… do you have any good hotel recommendations?
Wish I could get so carried away when I do yoga. Am more worried about reaching my knees when I do a forward bend, let alone my feet.

Sumahan on the Water, a fabulous boutique hotel where every single room has an amazing view of the Bosphorous and a complimentary launch from the hotel jetty to the old town. Try Trivago, they sometimes have cheaper room price deals.
Enjoy Istanbul Sarah, Grace x
