I came across an interesting fashion designer recently,Gudrun Sjödén. Gudrun’s aim in the 70′s was to create a word with “more colourful women” by designing clothes filled with bold patterns and vibrant colors that are both quirky and feminine. She is known for her hippy-style prints and shapes on free flowing garments and eye-catching accessories and I say that her website is well worth a glancewww.gudrunsjoden.com, if for nothing else but for the originality of the site. With all the gloom and doom around us at the moment most of her clothes are quite inspiring and should put a little smile on your face and may also encourage those of us of a certain age (me) to leave the black stuff at home for a few days.
And girls, because we’re all so damn rich these days I thought you’d like to know that a few weeks agoThe Cadogan Hotellaunched a Champagne bath menu in time for Valentine’s Day, offering a Dom Pérignon 2002 bath for £25,000! The bath is drawn by your very own bath butler and the alternatives if you’re not a Dom Perignon 2002 fan are:
Louis de Custine Brut – £4,000
Perrier Jouet Grand Brut – £6,000
Perrier Jouet ‘Blason’ Rose – £8,000 (a personal favourite, although I can’t remember what it tastes like).
For goodness sake, did it not occur to the management team (headed up by General Manager Will Oakley) that his Saudi guests might prefer Cream Soda or even Ribena!Just to cover all the necessary points the hotel also assures it’s guests that the champagne can be heated to whatever temperature required, so that’s perfect, I can think of nothing less delicious than warm champagne in my bath. It’s a bit in your face isn’t it, or am I just jealous? I don’t know, I can’t work out my feelings on this one, maybe the reason for my sarcastic take on this pointless story is jealousy, pure and simple, although I thought I had a little more to give than that. Even if I had the £25,000 I wouldn’t spend it on this sort of rubbish, so perhaps it’s the swanky thriftlessness of the people who bath in champagne that makes me so cross, but then of course they HAVE earnt the money so should be allowed to spend it how they like, right?
