Youngest’s birthday today and boy have I sweated buckets for him. The four of us headed out to Lasertag Gloucesterfor a shoot out this afternoon; it was honestly the most fun I’ve had in years and with much cardiovascular exercise to boot. Husband came along to make the experience a family one and now the question on everyone’s lips is how did Mum manage to consistently rank first and score a near perfect on shot accuracy. Well as regular readers I shouldn’t think it takes much for you to work out that the opportunity to shoot the crap out of my husband was a very enticing one, in fact I hope you won’t mind if I go so far as to calling it my Nirvana, but of course one doesn’t tell the children nasty things like that so instead I gave them some of my sonic lasertag tips and insisted I had been blessed with beginner’s luck.
Instead of paying vast amounts for extra maths tuition this year we also gave our son a Darts Board(£19.99 from Argos) for his birthday. The electronic board (turned off to do his own scoring) has safe, rubber tipped darts and a multiple choice of games to play and I swear that even since this morning his basic maths has improved! Once again it’s not rocket science, of course if a child is constantly adding double sixteen, triple nineteen and three somewhere down the line he will become numerically proficient, so all in all the board was a great call and I would highly recommended it as a gift to any 8/9 year old boy in need of a little help mathematically or even for one who doesn’t!!
