New hair, new look, new me? Oh, I don’t know, aren’t I supposed to have split up with my husband or discovered that he’s having affairs with 3 young men under 16 for my hairstyle to change that drastically? When is the right time to cut one’s hair off, really cut it off, you know…. shortish enough to look like the lady in the Lancome ads, a bit cooky, cool but yet not too obvious that you’ve had enough of life now and want to check out?
Short hair can look fab for 2 days after the initial cut, straight from the salon’s mouth etc… but after that it can so easily go downhill. One of the prettiest mums at Country School has recently had the chop, on the day she did it we ohhhd! and ahhhd but then she washed it and I seriously can’t even look at her anymore because it looks so awful.
The only women I know who can genuinely carry off the short hair look are tall (ish), slim faced and the lucky owners of thick, straight hair. I however have thin, curly, brown hair (dyed) an ageing face and a crooked nose so am not a great candidate for the middle aged crisis chop and what’s more, for 35 years I have chopped, regretted, grown back, chopped, regretted, grown back, chopped, regretted and grown back so who’s to say that things won’t be exactly the same this time?
I need divine intervention, I need advice from Leonardo da Vinci, I need someone in the know to help me make this decision.

Your hair looks great as it is. Stop worrying! Gracie xx
Take my advice, don't cut it unless you want hair extensions for the next 3 months!
