Day of Love!! What are we talking about? I’ve been married for nearly 13 years and days of luuurve don’t really come into it anymore, do they? Oh dear…I AM a miserable old bat.
Very happy to send the kids a Valentine’s card though. My mother used to send me one every year at boarding school which was always hugely appreciated, not least because I was incurably unhappy at the pompous, hell hole that was my English boarding school in the 1970′s, while the rest of my family lived in Rio de Janeiro; but also because there was something invigorating about receiving a Valentine’s card at all.On this very important day 250 of us would queue all the way down the imposing, marble staircase to recieve our mail from the whiskey fuelled “WAGGA” (headmistress).. (same queue for our flu jabs).. but it always really hurt to see a girl walking back through the crowd empty handed, and even though I knew that the special card was from my mother, it was a warm reminder that somebody out there loved me, which seemed to matter more on 14th February than any other day in the year, the card always gave me a great big, virtual bear hug.
I never let on that the mail was from her, it was my secret.

Oh Ellie, you've done it again. Am in floods of tears! C x
