Is it easy to stay in love with one person for years and years?Having just celebrated twenty years of marriage – well, when I say celebrated, during our anniversary dinner we briefly checked if we were still in love with each other before concentrating on the vital matter of who was drawing the short straw and driving home. Husband and I don’t analyse our relationship, never seems necessary if I’m honest. We can be on a long car journey and hardly exchange a word – when one of us starts to chat however, the other will almost invariably be about to strike up exactly the same topic of conversation – we seem to beseriouslytelepathic. We both agree that the last two decades have flown by. But that’s just us and, of course, everyone has different experiences. I’m not saying it’s been continuous passion, excitement and thrilling challenges. There’s also been a good helping of routine, boredom and compromise. But I simply cannot imagine sharing my life with anyone else but him.
I think the trick to enduring love is to settle down no earlier than your mid-thirties. Best to sow wild oats when your skin is dewy and taut, when you have all your own teeth, and can be bothered to wax everything from your upper lip to those stray hairs on your big toes. You are probably ready to commit when you are mature enough to visualise a life where wild orgasms take secondary importance to lasting companionship and a general air of contentment.Of course, this only applies when you’ve found Mr or Ms Right. No easy task. It can be tempting to accept second best when your biological clock starts tocking, but luckily – when you least expect it – it usually comes good.
Anyhow, I might still be in love but I’m no fan of Valentine’s Day. But it’s going to be my excuse to pop to M&S and buy one of their incredible valueValentine’s Gourmet Menus. This is not just food, this is ‘perfect for lazy old tarts like me’ food.

He! He! He!!
happy Valentines Day Gracie!
You are funny. Yours giggling, Joanne
