Annabel has a duvet day……..

This rarely happens that a ‘bug’ nails me and I take to my bed but a combination of a streaming head cold involving the use of a box of tissues every two hours, a furious social life the last 7 days (I know that is unusual for the social humbug of Henley!), the shortening of the days, a build-up of unwatched programmes on Sky Plus and my bed looking very inviting yesterday afternoon, it was a no-brainer. I woke up today and, since Husband is away, Tesco’s online delivering this afternoon, there does not seem any pressing need to rise again for at least 48 hours. I am not a natural ‘bed-lier-in’ and am always up quite early so this was a real treat.
Ellie, I know computer’s get viruses but do you think your cold has passed through cyber-space to me as I am suffering all the same afflictions except for two young children hence you have had to battle on and I have taken the soft option, my bed!
The only problem about going to bed for so long enables my list-making fettish to raise its ugly head – I am of the school whose motto is “Nothing beats the satisfaction of crossing things off a list”. However this one has got quite long and I could have taken one of two paths, either I could have jumped out of bed and rushed around doing jobs, smugly crossing them off the list. Or I could put some self-indulgent tasks on the list, hence enabling me to be able to stay in the bedroom and cross them off later, for example finish my book, sort sock drawer (the sock nymph lives in our house and regularly secretes the odd sock or two to their own home, fully furnished with all our missing socks), get Sky Plus down to 20% (Husband gets quite edgy when we are on 80%, nearing capacity, with an anxious realisation that there are quite a few clashing, sporting moments coming up over the weekend and therefore he needs some serious space on Sky plus) and so I think you can guess which path I am on!!
And I wish all my friends a happy and self-indulgent weekend………..

  1. Soooooo jealous, love duvet days particularly when it is raining! So good to have time on one's own every now and then as it is such a rarity in my life! Keep up the great blog, it cheers me up and makes me laugh.

  2. I send you much cyber night nurse and hope you get better soon, not too soon though as duvet days sound rather cosy and yummy
