Annabel is ready for all that nature chucks at her……

It’s lucky I love variety in weather because that’s what we get in bucket loads in Cornwall. We arrived and, as we opened the boot to unload, it came down like a storm and so we all gathered in the sitting room saying “this is just right, a good rainstorm makes us feel we have started our summer holiday”. So in between cloud bursts we grabbed all the luggage, which I had carefully packed room by room, and with no method threw it in the house so my method was a waste of time! Then we attempted to squeeze 9 people and their luggage into a cottage for 6. At that point, husband grabbed a couple of Nurofen and retired to his bed, eldest daughter disappeared under a cloud of yawns complaining she had been up since 5 am and youngest daughter disappeared with boyfriend for a session of re-getting-to-know each other, very necessary after 2 days apart! Youngest son, with friends, rushed to pontoon for a quick spin in his boat (which naturally enough is not working today as it would be too good to be true for it not to break down at least 3 times during the holiday). So friend and I were left to unpack and meet Tesco delivery in car park, who interestingly enough had forgotten to provide bags which made the unloading and loading a touch exhausting.
Cooked supper for a starving lot of young who reappeared at the appropriate hour, though did send them to pub for puddings………a brainwave from me especially considering I was now on my 16th hour of working and about the same number of glasses of wine so amazing my brain could even function.
The following day was gorgeous and my girlfriend even got the bikini out, which I feel is pointless since who is going to see the exotic tan……..it’s enough for me to make it into sunlounger without hearing a yell of “Mum”. Have successfully read at least 5 pages of my book though have no idea what they were about so may have to re-read or give up.
Today was cold, blowy and blustery so feel I have now done all seasons in 3 days and am looking forward to the rest of the holiday and watching BBC weather at night and believing that we are going to have the weather they predict and making plans accordingly and having to change the whole lot after breakfast!!

  1. How's the weather today? I think we're in for heatwave in Spa Town having virtually had snow last week.
